The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is committed to recruiting exceptional students from every community and every household across North Carolina and beyond. We proudly admit North Carolina students without regard to financial need, ensuring that a student’s ability to pay does not determine their opportunity to attend Carolina. Private support is essential to sustaining this commitment and expanding access for students from all backgrounds.
Out-of-state financial aid is being reduced, making it harder for talented students beyond North Carolina to afford a Carolina education.
When you give to scholarships and student aid, you do more than help a student attend Carolina—you strengthen families and communities for generations to come.
Featured Initiatives
Carolina Covenant
Carolina Covenant empowers low-income students to graduate debt-free through a combination of scholarships, grants, and work-study opportunities. Covenant Scholars can fully experience college without the burden of financial stress. To date, more than 12,000 students have graduated from Carolina as Covenant Scholars—made possible through donors and supporters who believe access and opportunity should be within reach for all.
Blue Sky Scholars
Blue Sky Scholars supports middle-income students through scholarships, work-study, mentoring, and enrichment opportunities. These students are not only navigating college—they’re redefining what’s possible for their families and communities. Donor support provides both the financial resources and the support systems students need to thrive academically, socially, and professionally at Carolina.
Peachtree Scholars + Unrestricted Scholarship Fund
The Peachtree Scholars Program brings a piece of Georgia to Chapel Hill by providing full scholarships to outstanding students from the metro Atlanta region—students who enrich Carolina with diverse perspectives, leadership, and talent.
At the same time, out-of-state financial aid is being reduced, making it harder for talented students beyond North Carolina to afford a Carolina education. By pairing Peachtree Scholars with the Unrestricted Scholarship Fund, Carolina gains flexibility to respond to urgent needs for out-of-state students—helping ensure that geography is never a barrier to opportunity and that Carolina remains a truly national public university.
