For more than 80 years, the Gillings School has been committed to groundbreaking research, exceptional teaching and effective practice. Our work supports preparedness for disease outbreaks and natural disasters, clean air and water and vibrant communities that foster healthy people and families.  

Local and global public health are inextricably linked. Our work with climate and the environment acknowledges that contaminants in our air and water are not constrained by national borders. By focusing on practice, we ensure decision-makers benefit from evidence, and we support communities as they identify and respond to their unique health challenges. The insights we develop guide work with other communities around the world.  

As we train the next generation of public health professionals, our deepening commitment to inclusive excellence means we’re working to bring diverse perspectives to our School and the public health workforce.

Public Health Foundation

Provides the greatest flexibility in support of student and faculty needs school-wide.

Gillings Global Health Acceleration Fund

Provides scholarships to students and faculty to study and address global health issues.

Dean’s Acceleration Fund

Provides flexibility for our dean to support emerging challenges and innovative projects across the school. 

Environmental Health and Climate Acceleration Fund

Provides funding for further work and research that supports environmental health and the climate. 

Fund for Inclusive Excellence

Provides funding for student scholarships and innovative projects and programs that promote diversity and inclusion. 

Public Health Practice

Provides support for emerging challenges and innovative projects in the area of practice.
