Every child deserves a healthy, safe, and stimulating childhood, and our work has been dedicated to making this experience a reality for all children. Since its inception, the UNC Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute (FPG) has worked to promote positive developmental and educational outcomes for children of all backgrounds and all abilities from the earliest years. We are committed to conducting rigorous, interdisciplinary research; informing public policy and supporting systems change; and improving the lives of children through evidence-based practice. And we need your support as we continue to do this.
FPG celebrates 60 years—help us reach 100!
FPG was founded by a small group of scientists with a shared vision: to conduct research that would make a difference in children’s lives, support families, and inform public policy. Since then, FPG’s research and evaluation, implementation, technical assistance, and outreach have all shaped—and continue to shape—how the nation cares for and educates children. We’re proud to support services in all 100 counties in North Carolina, including projects that help local programs and school districts enhance student learning and literacy, develop children’s self-regulation skills, and support students with autism.
As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, we’re excited to look forward and hold steadfast in our commitment to making a positive impact on children and families for decades to come. And we need partners as we do this—building toward a future where every child has equal opportunity for health, safety, and happiness. Join us as we work with intention to develop programs and initiatives that improve the lives of children and families in our state, nation, and around the world.
